Griffin Claw Brewing Co. crafts signature beer for Sullivan's Public House - in time for St. Patrick's Day

Detroit, MI – Irish and American beer-making traditions are about to collide at one local establishment, and the results are sure to be delicious.

Owners of Sullivan’s Public House, known for its farm-to-table menu and dedication to Irish beer, whisky and tradition, will soon debut the pub’s very own Michigan-made craft beer.

Taking over the tap once occupied by a classic – Bass Ale – the award-winning beer experts at Michigan’s own Griffin Claw Brewing Co., worked directly with Owners Jerry and Jamie Cremin to create Sullivan’s Irish Ale.

“It’s a well-balanced and well-rounded European style pale ale,” said Kyle VanDeventer, sales director at Griffin Claw brewing Co. “Sullivan’s Irish Ale pairs perfectly with classic dishes from Fish n’ Chips to a hearty Shepherd’s Pie.”

Developed by Brewmaster Dan Rogers at Griffin Claw BrewingCo., Sullivan’s Irish Ale is a flavorful combination of centennial hops and caramel malt. It clocks in at 5 percent ABV and 35 IBU.

Sullivan’sIrish Ale is set to be on tap at the Oxford-based pub alone. Those who opt for a Black and Tan as this St. Patrick’s Day approaches can look forward to trying the new beer alongside a Guinness Irish Stout – giving a Michigan craft spin to a classic.

It all began with a spark of an idea last spring. “(Jerry’s) a great GriffinClaw supporter and we were happy to partner up,” said VanDeventer.

Sullivan’s Irish Ale will only be available at Sullivan’sPublic House. It will cost $5 for a 16-ounce pint or $6 for an Irish pint totaling 20 ounces.

A special beer release event is set for 7-9 p.m. Friday,March 3, 2017. Expect surprises courtesy of Griffin Claw Brewing Company. Those21 and older are welcome.

“We can’t wait to add Sullivan’s Irish Ale to our taps for the first time,” said Jerry Cremin. “Be the first to taste it with us.”

Sullivan’s Irish Ale combines two things so important to the Cremins – a strong tie to Irish tradition and collaborative support of theMichigan craft beer industry. Imported Irish beers are among the favorite choices on the Sullivan’s Public House menu. Still, this partnership demonstrates an appreciation for the quality of locally-made beer that honorsIrish tradition.

While this is the first foray into a signature beer for Sullivan’s Public House, Jerry Cremin noted that the establishment has worked closely with Griffin Claw Brewing Co. in the past and they proudly carry beers by the Birmingham-based brewery. Griffin Claw’s popular Norm’sRaggedy Ass IPA is a mainstay on the menu and used in recipes – like the batter of Buttermilk Griffin Claw IPA-Battered Calamari at Sullivan’s Public House.
