BREWER, Maine — Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co. is brewing up a special beer in partnership with Brewer Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2162. This limited edition specialty batch is being brewed to raise funds for Cancer Care of Maine through Champion the Cure Challenge and their efforts to expand cancer research and provide quality care to those going through treatments locally.
“We were looking for a unique way to give back to the community, and this cause really hits home,” said Kevin Thibodeau, Brewer Fire Local 2162 President. “This effort was spearheaded by a couple of our members who reached out to Geaghan’s to see if they were interested in partnering. We are looking forward to the release next month, and thank them for partnering with us on this effort.”
Members from both Brewer based organizations are currently working on the style and recipe for the beer that will be brewed in the up coming weeks. Two private release events have been scheduled with proceeds of the ticket sales benefiting Champion the Cure Challenge, and Geaghan Bros. committing an additional $1 from each pour at their tasting room following the release events.
“The opportunity to partner with a group of people who do so much for us is always a thrill, and to partner on a charitable cause that is close our hearts and theirs, makes it that much more special,” said Andrew Geaghan, Owner, Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co. “For us, the ask was simple. We are big supporters of Champion the Cure Challenge. We have all been impacted by cancer in some form whether it has been a friend, coworker, family member or in a caregiver role.”
The beer will be released at the Geaghan Bros. Brewing Tasting Room in Brewer, Sunday, June 24th at 4:30 and Monday, June 25th at 5pm. Tickets to these events are $25 and included a special limited edition t-shirt and your first pint, or $10 if you are just interested in trying the brew. They can be purchased at the Brewer Fire Station or through a member of Brewer Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2162.
