Burlington, VT — Citizen Cider, founded in 2010 on a hunch and some good old-fashioned hard work, has quickly become a leading player in the craft cider arena. Citizen Cider strives to look at the bigger picture and focuses on being involved in every aspect of their supply chain, sourcing all fruit directly from local farmers and pressing the juice to create a true craft cider. Never from concentrate.
Origin matters. Here at Citizen Cider we focus on the origins of our cider apples on a daily basis, so when Whole Foods approached us about a specialty cider for their New York locations, we did what we do best and sought out some New York apples. Wayne County, NY is home to one of the most unique apple crops in the country.
So, we took 100% Wayne County apples, pressed them at Happy Valley Orchard in Middlebury, VT and fermented the juice with Ale Yeast in Burlington, VT. From here the Wayne County Sixer was born; an ale style cider with an ABV of 6%. Available in Whole Foods exclusively and at our Pine Street, Tasting Room for a limited time in 12 oz bottle, six packs.
We are proud to be working with the following Wayne County Growers: Morgan Farms, Lake Breeze Fruit Farm, Youngman Bros. Fruit Farm, GMB Farms, Van Acker Farms, Bushart Farms, Demarree Farms, Datthyn Fruit Farm, Smith Bros. Farm. Take a trip on our supply chain and enjoy this cider and the places it comes from.
About Citizen Cider
Citizen Cider, even in the early days, has always had a forward momentum bigger than the guys. They have guided the boat but the river guides them both. A big idea yes, but at the end of the day they remain present with a simple goal. Bring the cider to the people. Now available in 10 states. www.citizencider.com
