NELLYSFORD, VA — Bold Rock Hard Cider has announced the launch of their newest fall and winter seasonal, Bold Rock Blood Orange, to be released November 1. Bold Rock Blood Orange is a blend of blood orange juice and locally harvested Blue Ridge apples, featuring the light and refreshing apple cider finish that Bold Rock devotees have come to expect coupled with the crisp tartness and tangy citrus brightness of blood orange.

This newest seasonal cider style nicely balances sweetness to ensure a smooth dry finish, making it easy to drink on its own or as a perfect complement to meals. With the all-natural process, each bottle has a distinct cloudy orange haze sure to remind many of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Bold Rock Blood Orange is the most recent in an expanding roster of locally crafted hard ciders which can now be found throughout the East Coast from Pennsylvania to Georgia. This is the third seasonal Bold Rock has released in 2016.

Chief Operations Officer of Virginia Eagle Distributing Company, Scott Heinz, said, “Bold Rock Hard Ciders’ seasonal lineups have exceeded my expectations. Their innovation and seasonal roll outs have been one of the best I have seen.”

About Bold Rock

Bold Rock Hard Cider established its roots in 2012 by partners John Washburn and Brian Shanks. Washburn owned farmland, formally an apple orchard in the 1930s, in Nellysford, VA. He had the inspiration to make local craft cider, so he contacted the cider visionary Shanks to see if the New Zealand native and world-renowned cider expert with more than three decades of experience in the industry would be interested in working his magic with locally picked apples. The two fast friends have since put together a rapidly growing company, turning Bold Rock into the largest independently owned craft cidery in the United States.

In addition to Bold Rock’s original Virginia-based Cider Barn, which features a rustically elegant taproom and scenic surrounding views, the craft cidery also operates a second production facility and taproom in North Carolina. Located near Asheville in the town of Mills River, Bold Rock utilizes the abundance of premium apples grown in the state’s western mountains.

Bold Rock Hard Cider is winner of more than 75 awards in the past three years, and they produce eight hard ciders, all made from apples locally grown and handpicked in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. Additional company information can be found at www.boldrock.com.
