Every batch of Bold Rock Hard Cider is made from local Blue Ridge Mountain apples, crushed and crafted by our cider makers in Virginia and North Carolina. Located in bucolic Nelson County near Nellysford, Virginia, the flagship Bold Rock Cider Barn opened in August 2014 and represents our headquarters, center of operations and primary cider production facility.
The ‘Chapel of Apple’ as it is affectionately known is a beautifully rustic timber frame barn overlooking the Rockfish River that utilizes locally sourced apples crushed and crafted in the Blue Ridge Mountains to create our award winning cider. Our patio offers expansive views of the Rockfish Valley while the interior of the Cider Barn exudes comfort and hospitality. Regional cideries grew at more than triple the rate of the total cider segment at off-premise retailers in 2020, American Cider Association executive director Michelle McGrath shared during the trade organization’s annual CiderCon event earlier this year.
“Off-premise channels grew 9% for total cider — regional brands grew 33%,” she said. “Off-premise chains don’t capture all of our members, but they do provide a useful measuring stick.”
