PETALUMA, CA – The Lagunitas Brewing Company plans to expand this fall after purchasing a nearby site on their current property.

Ron Lindenbusch, a spokesperson for the brewery confirmed that the operation will be expanding from the current 80 barrel system to a 250 barrel system.

"We have taken over another building on the property and we are going to be able to put in a new brewhouse this fall," he said.

Lagunitas is currently on pace for 160,000 barrels in 2011, up from 104,420 in 2010. The new system will allow Lagunitas to brew up to 660,000 barrels.

"Our January sales are up 68%," said Lindenbusch. "We will probably end up running short on beer this summer, the way sales are going."

The expansion will cost roughly $10 million and put Lagunitas in the position to challenge for a top ten craft brewer ranking based on production volume.
