The Beer Institute is hoping a so-called “lame duck session” of Congress won’t hurt the chances of finally passing the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act (CBMTRA), which would lower excise taxes, compliance burdens, and regulations on alcohol makers.
This November, middle and western Tennessee craft beer enthusiasts will no longer have to travel to Chattanooga and Knoxville to find a Catawba beer. Catawba Brewing of Asheville, Morganton, and Charlotte, NC is partnering with DET Distributing of Nashville and Jackson, TN to launch Catawba beers in middle Tennessee.

Deschutes Brewery announced today they will introduce their brands to the Tidewater region of Southeast Virginia, including; Norfolk, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Newport News and Williamsburg. The brewery is partnering with Chesbay Distributing, an east coast division of the Reyes Beverage Group, headquartered in Norfolk, VA. Earlier this year, Deschutes Brewery announced that Roanoke would be the site for its future East Coast brewery location, 280 miles away from the Tidewater region.

Rum DBC clocks in at 11% ABV while Rum FIDY drops the hammer at 14% ABV. Both will feature exclusively on draft and in 19.2 ounce stovepipes at the Tasty Weasels in Longmont, CO and Brevard, NC for one day only.
Trappist monk beer from Spencer Brewery, owned and operated by the Trappist monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts will soon be available in Oakland and Macomb counties. Spencer recently signed on with Powers Distributing of Orion Township to bring these beers to Michigan – one of only five states to carry the product. There are only 11 Trappist breweries in the world and Spencer is the first and only in the United States.
