Craft beer maker Oskar Blues is expanding into the hard seltzer space. The Longmont, Colorado-headquartered beer company, which is part of the Canarchy Craft Brewery Collective, is planning a nationwide launch of a new hard seltzer brand in early 2019.

The Canarchy Craft Brewery Collective today announced plans to open a brewpub — in Asheville, about 30 miles north of Oskar Blues’ production facility in Brevard. Dubbed “The Canarchy Collaboratory,” the new outpost will occupy the soon-to-close Lexington Avenue Brewery (LAB) space.

Oskar Blues Brewery’s Barrel-Aged Ten FIDY Imperial Stout is back in 2018 and ready for national distribution on draft and in 19.2oz stovepipe cans. BA Ten FIDY season begins November 3 with taproom events in Boulder and Longmont, CO, and Brevard, NC.

The craft brewing industry has reached its “most competitive moment,” but that’s not necessarily “a bad thing,” Dogfish Head co-founder Sam Calagione said during a “state of the industry” panel discussion at the final Brew Talks meetup of 2018. Calagione, along with Revolution Brewing chief commercial officer Donn Bichsel and Canarchy Brewery Collective president and COO Matt Fraser, explained to more than 150 beer industry professionals how they’re navigating through the so-called “noise” in the space.

Oskar Blues Brewery announces a cult classic comeback – Death by Coconut Irish Porter returns for winter 2018 with kickoff events in taprooms on October 5.

Several beer companies throughout North and South Carolina have temporarily halted operations in preparation for Hurricane Florence, which is set to make landfall over the next 24 hours, bringing with it wind gusts exceeding 74 mph and days of storm surges, flooding and double-digit rainfall. States of emergency have been declared in the Carolinas, and the governors in those states have urged more than 1 million residents of coastal towns to evacuate. Georgia, Virginia and Maryland have also issued emergency orders. Palmetto Brewing Co., which was acquired in late 2017 by Catawba Brewing Co., shut down on Wednesday, with its 20 employees being encouraged to evacuate the area.

Oskar Blues announces the return of Ten FIDY Imperial Stout – a huge, 10.5% ABV black hole of burly malt flavor. In a galaxy not-so-far away (the Oskar Blues brewery) brewers discovered a mathematical curiosity – a beer darker than dark – so dark that it has sucked up massive amounts of flavor and allowed no light to penetrate its malty opaqueness.

Midway through 2018, the Canarchy Craft Brewery Collective is outpacing the overall U.S. craft beer segment. The Brewers Association (BA) reported last week that growth for small and independent U.S. brewers had “stabilized,” with production growing 5 percent through the first six months of 2018. The Fireman Capital-backed brewery consortium — whose brands include Oskar Blues, Cigar City, Deep Ellum, Perrin Brewing, Three Weavers, and Utah Brewers Cooperative (Wasatch and Squatters) — is growing faster than the category, with off-premise sales up 15.4 percent in the total U.S. multi-outlet and convenience store channel year-to-date.

Oskar Blues Brewery is stoked to announce the return of their cold brew-crammed beer, Hotbox Coffee Porter. In years past, this roasty, malty, wake-up-call of a porter was available only in the fall as a seasonal brew; however, the Beans-Plus-Beer Cult surrounding Hotbox Coffee Porter has grown.
