Sprecher Black Bavarian Medals at World Beer Cup

Glendale, WIIn one of the toughest international beer competitions, the 2014 World Beer Cup, two beers from Sprecher Brewing Company were judged to be exceptional. Black Bavarian– Sprecher’s signature beer—beat out forty-six (46) other entries to take home a gold medal in the German-style Schwarzbier category. Shakparo, a West African-style beer, won a bronze medal in a field of seventeen (17) entries in the Gluten-Free beer category.

Randy Sprecher first made Black Bavarian as a homebrewer in 1972. It has long been one of Sprecher Brewing Company’s most highly regarded beers both among beer lovers and contests judges, though it has not previously won a World Cup medal. “We’re happy Black Bavarian got the recognition it deserves,” said Sprecher Brewmaster Craig Burge, a sentiment echoed by Randy Sprecher. “Shakparo winning a bronze medal is icing on the cake,” said Sprecher.
