Spokesperson for Maine Beer & Wine to Compete to Qualify in 2014 Olympics

AUGUSTA, Maine – Julia Clukey of the U.S. Luge Team and spokesperson for the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association (MBWDA) will compete on Friday afternoon to qualify for the 2014 Winter Games. The World Cup competition in Park City, Utah will be broadcast live at 1:30 p.m. ET on UniversalSports.com and live scoring will be available at fil-luge.org.
USA Luge will announce its 10 Sochi nominees, pending United States Olympic Committee approval, in a gala event Saturday night that will be streamed live on the team’s website at usaluge.org. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.

For the last three years, Clukey has partnered with the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association as part of their responsibility initiative by recording public service announcements, making radio and television show appearances, and speaking at local high schools to talk with students about the importance of good decision making.
Since 2010, she has traveled over 2,000 miles to visit more than 30 high schools across the state and has reached more than 9,000 Maine students. In March, she will return to Maine and is currently scheduling high school presentations for this spring via her website at clukeyluge.com.
