Rogue to Host 7th Annual Firkin Fest

PORTLAND, OREGON – Beer fanatics far and wide will gather at the Green Dragon on Saturday, March 1^stfor a firkin good time. The 7^th Annual Firkin Fest, hosted by Rogue Ales & Spirits, will feature a bevy of local breweries each presenting a beer of their choice prepared in a traditional English cask, or firkin. Unlike most draft beers, firkin beers are unpasteurized, unfiltered, naturally carbonated in the cask and served at cellar temperature of approximately 55 degrees.

The list of brewers donating firkins this year includes: Columbia River, Rogue Ales & Spirits, Buckman, Tracktown, Sasquatch, Seaside, Fort George, Alameda, Lucky Lab, Coalition, Newport, Breakside, Gigantic, Rusty Truck, Old Dog-New Trick, Old Town, Pints, Hopworks, Green Dragon Brew Crew, Burnside, Two Kilts, Worthy, Pelican, Migration, Fire On the Mountain, Second Street, Double Mountain, Fearless, Base Camp and Issaquah.The event will be held in two, three hour sessions. Session 1 runs from 11am to 2pm. Session 2 runs from 3pm to 6pm. Admission to a Session is $10 and includes 5 taster tickets.

The VIF Session (Very Impressive Firkin) is held from 2pm to 4pm in The Barrel Room adjacent to Buckman Botanical Brewery. VIF will feature Columbia River, Gigantic and Buckman, who are each bringing a firkin that will only be available at VIF. The brewers will be on hand to introduce their firkins and meet attendees. Tickets for this special session are $25 and include admission to Session 2.
