Pumpkin Ale by Upslope Brewing Company Returns

BOULDER, Colo. — Upslope Brewing Company’s most highly anticipated Limited Release beer, Pumpkin Ale, is back on the scene this fall.

The 2011 Great American Beer Festival gold medal winner is brewed with baby bear pumpkins grown locally at Boulder-based Munson Farms and a custom blend of six spices to round out the flavor. In reaction to last year’s overwhelming response to this seasonal favorite, Upslope doubled the quantity brewed, but stayed true to their award winning recipe. Pumpkin Ale fans can look forward to enjoying even more of the familiar, aromatic and flavorful 7.7% ABV brew they fell in love with last fall.

“From the beginning, our Pumpkin Ale has been a labor of love,” said Dany Pages, Upslope’s Director of Brewing Operations. “Prepping hundreds of pumpkins for the mash tun is no small task. The logistics centered around the picking, cooking and carving that has to be done to yield 560 pounds of pumpkin meat every week are definitely unlike that of any other recipe that we brew.”

Eager enthusiasts wishing to be the first to try this year’s batch on tap can catch the unveiling at Upslope’s Pumpkin Ale Release Party, September 12, at their Flatiron Park tap room. The beer will be flowing all day, but the party kicks off at 6 p.m. with live music by the Felonious Smith Trio. Grub to go along with this gourd-infused beer will be provided by The Orange Crunch. The fans looking to pick up the, now, virtually iconic, copper-colored 16 ounce four-packs in stores, can expect to see those showing up on shelves starting October 1.
