No-Li to Feature “Refueler” Whiskey Barrel Aged Spin Cycle Red at Beer Fest

Spokane, WA — No-Li Brewhouse recently received a Facebook message from a Fairchild Air Force Base Sergeant, Ssgt Dustin Sheffield, currently deployed at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan about how much he enjoys their Spin Cycle Red Ale, as well as the brewery’s green helicopter shirt. The helicopter shirt features an Mi-17 helicopter, the same one Ssgt Sheffield flies, trains, and advises the Afghan Air Force about.

In response to the message, No-Li had a print made of the photo Ssgt Sheffield sent of himself standing alongside the helicopter donning the shirt. No-Li staff gathered around in their own helicopter shirts and snapped a photo to send back to him.

In honor of Ssgt Sheffield, the Fairchild Air Force Base, and all military personnel who bravely serve our country, No-Li is naming one of their No Boundaries on the River Small Batch Beer Festival beers in their honor — “Refueler,” a Whiskey Barrel Aged Spin Cycle Red Ale. The name comes from the KC-135 Refuelers, run by Fairchild’s most prominent unit, used to refuel military planes.

No-Li is also offering their helicopter shirt for $10 to all military personnel the day of the festival, April 26th, 2014, 12-4pm. In addition, No-Li will start donating $2 from every Helicopter shirt sold through the pub each month to Operation Ward 57 (www.operationward57.org), an organization based in Western Washington that supports wounded warriors and their families.

In addition to “Refueler,” No-Li will feature 11 other small batch beers, including:

1. Cask-Conditioned Amber Ale Dry-Hopped with El Dorado Hops

A cask-conditioned Amber Ale infused with El Dorado hops. Cherry, watermelon and pear-like aromas and flavors on a sweet malt backbone.

2. Cacao Nib-Infused Brewer’s Breakfast Stout

Our February No Boundaries Small Batch Series release, Brewer’s Breakfast, infused with Cacao-nibs. “Nature’s chocolate chips” add an earthy chocolate aroma that compliments the coffee and roasted malts in this hearty stout.

3. Double Dry-Hopped El Dorado Ale

Our March No Boundaries Small Batch Series, “El Do Batch #1,” was brewed exclusively with El Dorado hops, contributing loads of fresh, fruity flavors and aromas. The original batch was dry-hopped with a half-pound of hops per barrel; this single-keg will be dry-hopped again with another half-pound of El Dorado, increasing the watermelon and cherry flavors in the beer.
