New Online Craft Beer Marketplace Launching In December

BeerjobberA new service is setting out to become your online destination for beer purchases.

Beerjobber, an online retailer which is working directly with breweries could soon become many consumers first choice when looking to locate beers from outside their geographical region.

“Our biggest goal here is to provide the consumer with fresh beer,” said company founder Sean Nevins.

Beerjobber describes themselves as ‘an online marketplace and community where beer lovers and beer makers can connect and share their passion for craft beer.’

And while a few other websites have attempted similar business models, none have been poised for the success Beerjobber is hoping to have.

“The nice part is that by working with us, the brewer doesn’t have to be distributed in the particular state the beer is being shipped too,” Nevins said. “In fact, we have turned off the ability to ship intra-state so we don’t harm the business in these brewers own backyards.”

Nevins spent six months working with legal advisors on each states complex laws to ensure that beer could be shipped both out of state from the brewery and to the consumer. He said they can ship out of 48 states and into 35, meaning that consumers looking for beers currently unavailable in their area could be in for a nice treat.

“Not many people have done this in the past because beer is heavy to ship and it’s perishable,” he said.

By drop-shipping directly from the brewery on a case by case basis, Nevins is able to tackle the freshness issue head on. Additionally, he plans to apply a fixed markup on the cost of the beer in an attempt to keep pricing competitive.

Nevins currently has 40 breweries on board, including Lazy Magnolia, Grand Teton Brewing and Bison Organic. He plans to grow his consumer-user base on the site ‘organically.’

“The look and feel of the site is much more like a Netflix than an Amazon,” he said. “Users are able to search by state, region, brewer, packaging and even descriptions.”

A beta version of Beerjobber will launch in December via a special invite-only promo code. Nevins then plans to open the service up to the entire public next February.
