Founders Introduces 15-Packs of All Day IPA Cans

It’s not a full suitcase, but Founders Brewing’s new 15-pack of All Day IPA is halfway there and might even fit in an overhead bin.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based craft brewery today announced it will begin shipping canned 15-packs of its 4.7 percent session IPA to distributors in March, one year after the company first announced it would can the beer.

“We are able to offer 15-pack cans due to production efficiencies from packaging cost savings,” brewery co-founder Mike Stevens said in a statement.

The new packaging, a “Brewer’s Dozen,” as they’re calling it, will be priced in line with the company’s current 12-pack format.

“We’re excited to pass the savings on to our customers as a way of saying thank you for their reception of All Day IPA,” he added.

Introduced as a seasonal, All Day IPA quickly became the brewery’s best-selling beer. Once it became clear that Founders had found its flagship offering in All Day, the brewery moved the beer into year-round production.

“We are looking at this brand as a category leader in the session ale category,” Stevens told Brewbound in July.

At the time, sales of All Day IPA comprised about 25 percent of the company’s overall volume and Stevens said it could account for nearly 40 percent of total production in 2014.

The new 15-packs will replace the current All Day IPA 12-packs. Meanwhile, the brewery will continue to sell the beer in bottled 6-packs. Cans of Founders’ higher-alcohol ‘Centennial IPA’ will continue to be sold in 12-packs, the brewery said.
