Barley Forge Brewing Hires New Brewmaster

COSTA MESA, CA. — Barley Forge Brewing Co. has hired Kevin Buckley as their Brewmaster.

Buckley brings with him nine years of experience in brewing craft beer, starting at Millstream Brewing in Amana, Iowa. Following that initial foray, the itinerant brewer spent his formative years at a range of locations: Govnor’s Public House (Lake in the Hills, Illinois), The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company (Canmore, Alberta, Canada), then Alpine Brewing and Back Street Brewery (San Diego County). In 2012, Buckley co-founded Latitude 33 Brewing Company in Vista.

Buckley was impressed by the almost twenty years of development groundwork laid by the founders of Barley Forge, stating, “Upon meeting the founders at Barley Forge, I knew that it would be a great opportunity to make some boundary-pushing beer in a very creative environment. I am very pleased to become a member of the Barley Forge family.”

Barley Forge Brewing Co. founder Greg Nylen looks forward to scaling up his own award-winning homebrew beer recipes for large-scale production, and future collaborations with the new Brewmaster. Of Buckley, Nylen says, “We are very excited to have Kevin onboard. He’s a creative and highly talented brewer with a broad range of experience in the industry. We’re looking forward to Kevin adding his own unique brews to our product lineup and taking us forward as we launch.” Per Nylen’s wife and Barley Forge co-owner Mary Ann Frericks, “Kevin is a very driven individual who brings years of hard-won experience. He is uniquely posed to accomplish great things and brew some incredible beer.”

Barley Forge Brewing Co. is set to open early fall 2014, pending final city certification.
