10 Barrel Brewing Co. Names Kay Witkiewicz Head Brewer for Denver Pub

Denver, CO – After a month’s long search for the role of head brewer position at 10 Barrel’s Denver pub, Kay Witkiewicz has been hired. Witkiewicz, previously the head brewer at Twisted Pine Brewing Co. in Boulder, CO, will bring his expertise and passion to the recently opened RiNo District brew pub. He will take the reins on January 23, a few days before the pub’s grand opening party on Saturday, January 28.

Witkiewicz began as a home brewer whose enthusiasm for beer brought him to Colorado in 2012. He started his career with Twisted Pine Brewing as an assistant brewer while working as an intern for the Brewers Association, and worked his way up to full-time brewer and eventually to his most recent position there as head brewer. During his tenure of three years as head brewer at Twisted Pine Brewing, Witkiewicz led production and development of new recipes for the brewery’s core lineup, as well as pub-only releases, winning multiple medals at the GABF and the World Beer Cup. He is also a Certified Cicerone.

As head brewer of 10 Barrel Denver, Witkiewicz will have the freedom to experiment and will brew seasonal and locally exclusive beers to the pub’s guests. He is a champion of lagers, pilsners, sessionable beers and hops; 10 Barrel Brewing Co. Denver pub enthusiasts can expect to see new Denver-exclusive brews in the coming months.

“We searched long and hard to find the right fit for our Denver head brewer,” said 10 Barrel brewmaster, Jimmy Seifrit. “Kay is the right fit for our team, not only are his brewing credentials and recipes legit, but he’s also got the right, fun-loving personality for our team. I’m looking forward to tasting his beers that come out of our Denver pub.”

Witkiewicz is an aficionado of the outdoors, taking advantage of all that Colorado has to offer, particularly hiking. He also enjoys cooking in his free time and is looking forward to collaborating on the complimentary food and beer offerings with the pub’s head chef, Kiel Ard.

Witkiewicz will start his new position just in time for the pub’s grand opening party on Saturday, January 28. The free block party will include live music, giveaways, a raffle going to Big City Mountaineers, and 10 Barrel’s rail jam on the Pray for Snow truck.
