Westbound & Down Brewing, one of Colorado’s fastest-growing and most highly decorated breweries of the past decade, is excited to announce its next phase of growth with the opening of a new tasting room in Denver’s Wheat Ridge neighborhood.
Located at 5540 W 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO, Westbound & Down’s newest Front Range brewpub and tasting room is expected to open by late 2026 or early 2027. The 4,000-square-foot interior space will feature a full kitchen dishing out pizzas, sandwiches, and elevated pub fare, which builds on the culinary program established by Chef Casey Taylor at its Lafayette location.
The new Wheat Ridge brewpub will feature 18 draft lines servicing a sprawling taproom experience spanning two adjacent buildings. The dual building footprint will be connected in the middle by a 300-square-foot community courtyard, which will allow open, accessible seating and outdoor consumption. Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy stunning mountain vista views via a 1,600 square-foot rooftop patio perched atop the main taproom, which will be outfitted with an additional 18 draft lines.
“We are beyond ecstatic to bring our full Westbound & Down experience to the greater Denver area,” said CEO & Director of Brewing Operations for Westbound & Down Brewing. “The Greater Denver community has always shown us tremendous support, and we are stoked to match that enthusiasm with our coolest buildout yet!”
Meanwhile, Westbound & Down recently closed the first round of a crowd-funded capital raise through the DealMaker platform to help fuel its continued expansion and growth. The Westbound team originally projected a six-month window to reach its initial goal; however, overwhelming public support helped to close out over $1.2 million in funding in just under two months.
Concurrently, Westbound & Down has also launched its second round of funding through the DealMaker platform to help support the launch of its upcoming Northwest Denver location. This newest round of funding will allow the company to purchase the newly announced building outright, providing long-term equity and operational control, while building out a brewpub experience that continues Westbound & Down’s tradition of providing the best-in-class beer, food, and hospitality. Additionally, the newest DealMaker campaign will also continue to fuel expansion and growth for the company, which aims to quadruple production yet again by 2028.
Founded in Idaho Springs in 2015, the Colorado-based brewery has had a busy last five years. Beginning with the acquisition of the former Endo Brewing space in Lafayette, CO, in 2021, which now serves as Westbound’s main production facility and brewpub, the burgeoning Colorado brewery quickly followed that move with the opening of a satellite taproom in downtown Denver’s Dairy Block Free Market space in 2022. Most recently, Westbound continued to build on its ethos of serving as a gateway to the outdoors with the acquisition of a pair of Roaring Fork Valley staples in Aspen Brewing Company in Aspen, CO, and Capitol Creek Brewery in Basalt, CO.
Over the last six years, Westbound has grown 2,569% and quadrupled production. That year-over-year growth is on track to continue skyrocketing after the brewery recently signed with state-wide distributor, Elite Brands, making its beer available at nearly 400 bars & restaurants and over 500 retail locations, including every Whole Foods store in Colorado. Now, Westbound & Down is ready to ramp up its next phase of growth with a new Denver-area tasting room.
Intent on empowering the same craft beer fans that helped catapult craft beer’s recent modern resurgence, DealMaker allows everyday beer enthusiasts to make a minimum investment of as low as $750. Escalating tiers of bonus shares and investor perks such as free beer, brewery discounts, a yearly investor party, and even a private barrel-aged beer selection will bring some added benefits. However, at its core, the crowdfunding opportunity is primarily about creating greater equity and lowering the barrier of entry for Westbound’s fans to become part of the brewery’s growth while keeping up with the brewery’s meteoric demand.
“This is about meeting demand with intention,” said CEO and Director of Brewing Operations Jake Gardner. “Denver has long been one of our strongest regions, but we haven’t had a true home there – until now. This new location will bring our beer, food, and hospitality under one roof in a space designed for connection while helping accelerate retail adoption in Denver and beyond.”
Throughout its nearly decade-long legacy, Westbound & Down has prioritized hiring the highest quality staff, producing the highest quality beer, and providing the highest quality hospitality at its brewpubs. But even more impressive has been its ability to do so while investing in its home state of Colorado as it continues to build toward serving the state as the go-to premium craft beer brand of choice.
