Portland, OR — Widmer Brothers recently teamed up with Portland-based experimental eyewear brand Shwood.
The Shwood x Widmer Brothers collaboration is a special project combining the efforts of two makers who discovered their crafts in Portland, OR. For this project, Shwood and Widmer Brothers brought together their specialties to create a one-of-a-kind package. From the brewing process to the screen-printed label to the hand-numbered box, each aspect of the collaboration has been carefully thought.
The limited edition Shwood x Widmer Brothers Kit includes:
- One Pair of Shwood x Widmer skip sawn Oak sunglass frames
- A 22 oz. bottle of Widmer Brothers oak-infused “Skipsaw Upheaval IPA”
- A 22 oz. bottle of Widmer Brothers “Upheaval IPA” beer
- A Shwood x Widmer custom bottle opener
- Leather sunglass travel case

Featuring a textured, skip sawn Oak exterior, each pair of Shwood x Widmer Brothers sunglasses was given a rich brown patina through a proprietary, beer-based staining process. To add a refined touch, each pair of frames is finished with antiqued brass temple caps depicting the Shwood double axe and Widmer Brothers “W” logos. In addition to the sunglasses, each kit includes two beers— a sampling of Widmer Brothers Upheaval IPA and a bottle of Widmer Brothers Skipsaw Upheaval IPA. The Skipsaw Upheaval IPA, crafted in conjunction with the Shwood team specifically for this package, is a tribute to Northwest timber and the culture that surrounds it. By aging the Upheaval IPA with Oregon oak spirals, Shwood added crisp oak flavors to an already bold and bitter Northwest style IPA. Those who purchase the kit are encouraged to do a side-by-side comparison of the beers.
Please note: The Skipsaw Upheavel IPA will not ship with the full package. As occasionally happens in the brewing process, additional brewing time was needed from what was initially planned. Please expect a separate delivery of the second beer in early 2015. Must be 21 years of age to purchase. A valid state ID showing proof of legal age will be required upon receipt of package.
