ST. LOUIS – In 2014, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company (UCBC), a St. Louis, MO craft brewery founded and operated by two former Anheuser-Busch employees, Florian Kuplent and David Wolfe, opened their second brewery, Urban Chestnut Grove Brewery & Bierhall, located in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood, aka The Grove. And one year ago, they opened a third brewery, Urban Chestnut Hallertauer Brauerei, in the Hallertau region of Bavaria in Wolnzach, Germany.

As Missouri’s third largest craft brewery with about 30,000 bbls of annual brewing capacity now on-line, Urban Chestnut had been able to distribute to Kansas City, MO, and Chicago in the past two years. Last week, Urban Chestnut expanded its distribution footprint to the full state of Kansas.

“Ever since we began distribution in KCMO, we had been looking to sell our beers on the other side of the state line,” said David Wolfe. “But once we started the process we realized how great craft beer market is in the entire state Kansas, so we decided to go that route.”

Urban Chestnut has chosen to partner with Kansas Craft Alliance, which began distributing their beers in the Sunflower State early last week.

“The Kansas Craft Alliance is a wonderful company with passionate beer enthusiasts,” remarks Jon Shine, Urban Chestnut’s Head of Sales Operations. “Their commitment to growing craft beer in Kansas and belief in Urban Chestnut makes them an ideal partner for us.”

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company’s brewing philosophy centers around Beer Divergency—a ‘new world meets old world’ brewing approach wherein UCBC contributes to the “revolution” of craft beer through creations of artisanal, modern American beers, and pays “reverence” to the heritage of beer with offerings of classically- crafted, timeless European beer styles.

“We are extremely proud to bring Urban Chestnut Brewing Company and their amazing portfolio to Kansas”, says Jerrod Nelsen, Brand Development Manager for the KCA. “Representing a great partner like Urban Chestnut is an honor and we are excited for consumers to enjoy UCBC throughout the state.”
