Urban Artifact Releasing 6 Barrel-Aged Sour Beers for 2nd Anniversary

Cincinnati, Ohio – Urban Artifact, Cincinnati’s wild culture expert, will be releasing 6 traditional barrel aged sours at their 2nd anniversary celebration, April 22nd. Since opening in 2015, Urban Artifact has been collecting wild yeast and combining those wild cultures with beer aging in oak barrels. The following 6 beers will be released:

Perpetuum 2015 (Barrel Aged Solera): Proved a wildly popular draft only release for our 1 year anniversary party, we saved some for our 2 year party knowing we wanted to share this first vintage in bottles. Sour, funky, and dry this red hued beer is the epitome of wild culture.

Perpetuum 2016 (Barrel Aged Solera): The beauty of a solera is in the heterogeneous blending of new beer and old, year after year. By removing a small portion each year for bottling and blending in new beer, the average age of the beer in solera slowly grows with time. 2016’s version spent an average of 1.33 years on oak, meaning incrementally more funk and acidity than Perpetuum 2015.

Red Raspberry Escapement (Barrel Aged Sour): Escapement is a barrel aged golden sour & the red raspberry version was fruited at 2 lbs/gallon giving an intensely jam-like flavor.

Nectarine Escapement (Barrel Aged Sour): Barrel aged golden sour with 2 lbs/gallon of fresh nectarines for a fresh, off the tree intense flavor.

Tart Cherry Escapement (Barrel Aged Sour): Barrel aged golden sour with 2 lbs/gallon of fresh sour cherries for a biting cherry tart treat!

Wine Barrel Palmistry (Double Fruited Berliner Double Pale): Palmistry aged in red wine barrels and fruited with a second addition of kumquat, pineapple and guavas!

All six beers will be available starting at 11am on April 22nd in the taproom in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati OH. Food trucks will be on site and live music will be rocking from 2pm-1am.
