Upslope Releases ’17 Christmas Ale and Wild Christmas Ale

BOULDER, Colo. — In the spirit of giving, Upslope Brewing Company is releasing two holiday brews this year, its popular Christmas Ale, a Limited Release Belgian-style Dubbel—brewed with holiday spices, as well as a small-batch Wild Christmas Ale, brewed with black raspberries, as part of its Lee Hill Series.

In true Christmas fashion, Upslope’s Christmas Ale pours a deep ruby red with an off-white headstand that laces the glass with each sip. A blend of holiday spices and dark dried fruit creates a distinctive holiday aroma, complemented by spicy notes from the Abbey Ale Yeast. The 8.2% ABV Christmas Ale is characterized by a medium body and a rich malt profile.

“The recipe for this beer is based upon an old homebrew recipe of mine that I used to take to holiday parties,”says Upslope Founder, Matt Cutter. “In 2009, the brewery adopted it as our holiday Limited Release, ‘ChristmasAle.’ It’s a spiced holiday ale brewed with Abbey Ale Yeast that’s sure to keep drinkers plenty warm through the holiday season.”

Christmas Ale is available now in canned 12-ounce four packs at liquor stores across Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, and Montana, while supplies last.

As part of Upslope’s experimental Lee Hill Series of brews, Volume 14: Wild Christmas Ale with Black Raspberries has been aged for ten months in Leopold Bros. Maryland-Style Rye Whiskey barrels and soured with Upslope’s in-house mixed culture. To sweeten the deal, this brew has been re-fermented on 1,000 pounds of blackraspberries for two months, creating a fruit-forward holiday treat, featuring notes of blackberry jam, blueberry and merlot to complement the pointed tartness and subtle American oak.

“Sticking with tradition, we’re happy to unveil the third version of our Wild Christmas Ale as our holiday Lee Hill Series release,” says Upslope Head Brewer, Sam Scruby. “This year we re-fermented the beer over 1,000 lbs ofBlack Cap Raspberries to deliver the most fruit forward Lee Hill Series offering to date.”

Wild Christmas Ale will be offered in 19.2-ounce cans, and will be released at Upslope’s Lee Hill tap room (1501Lee Hill Drive, No. 20, Boulder, CO 80304) on Thursday, November 9th. For more information regarding the Wild Christmas Ale release, visit Upslope’s Facebook Page.
