Upslope Brewing Earns B Corporation Certification

BOULDER, Colo. — Upslope Brewing Company, the Boulder-based brewer and maker of multiple award-winning beers, is proud to announce that today the company has become a Certified B Corporation®. As a Certified B Corp™, Upslope is voluntarily committed to meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Upslope joins a powerful force of more than 2,100 companies across 50 countries and 130 industries that have also reached Certified B Corp certification in an effort to redefine success in business by solving social and environmental problems.

“We chose to pursue this certification in order to benchmark and continually improve the influence of our business on all of our stakeholders: our employees, customers, community and the environment,” said Upslope’s founder, Matt Cutter. “We’re proud to join the other 19 breweries worldwide who have achieved B Corp Certification and look forward to building upon this achievement. This only marks the beginning; with this framework in place, we’ll be able to measure the benefits of what we’ve accomplished so far and to effectively plan for continued improvement.”

Achieving B Corp Certification aligns with Upslope’s mission to promote environmental stewardship and sustainability. The brewery is focused on benchmarking and reducing its energy and water use, greenhouse gas emissions and waste created and sent to the landfill. In accordance with Boulder’s Zero Waste Ordinance, Upslope has built a robust compost and recycling program. As a participant in the Brewers’ Association’s Sustainability Benchmarking program, the brewery shares all of its utility data in order to get performance feedback and to help establish industry-wide metrics and best practices.

Additionally, through Upslope’s 1% for Rivers campaign, 1 percent of all Upslope Craft Lager can sales are donated to local Trout Unlimited chapters. Upslope will be the 20th brewery worldwide to receive a B Corp certification.
