ESCANABA, Mich. – Upper Hand Brewery is excited to announce the upcoming release of its newest specialty beer, Old Fighter, an American Barley Wine Ale.

Bold and brash with an ABV of 10%, Old Fighter is a tribute to the legendary Northern Pike. Eight hop varieties combine with seven different types of grain, including rye grown right here in the U.P., to offer assertive aromas and a full body.

“Everyone in the U.P. has their own story of this mythical Northern Pike. While hooked countless times, this massive fish has never been landed. Our Barley Wine is the perfect beer to reminisce your own Old Fighter stories over,” commented Larry Bell, President and Founder of Upper Hand Brewery and Bell’s Brewery, Inc. (Upper Hand is a division of Bell’s).

Old Fighter will be available in limited quantities on draught and in bottles throughout the U.P. and Northern Wisconsin beginning in mid-May, just in time for opening day of Northern Pike and Muskie fishing in the Upper Peninsula.
