Uncle Billy’s Debuting Coffee IPA

Austin, TX — On Friday, June 23, Uncle Billy’s will introduce a new Coffee IPA, called Oro Negro.

Based on the stunning success of the tiny batch First Friday Firkin of Coffee IPA introduced on June 1, Uncle Billy’s decided to brew a bigger batch of 20 barrels to be served only in the Taproom on Barton Springs Rd.

Head brewer, Trevor Nearburg, again collaborated with the owner of 1739 kfé Artesanal coffee to cold brew light roasted Puerto Rican Arabica Coffee from the highest mountainous region of Utuado into a coffee IPA. Oro Negro is made based on a revised recipe for the brewery’s mainstay beer, Green Room IPA.

Unlike Green Room, this IPA has been dry hopped with enormous amount of Centennial and Citra to give a pucker-you-up bright citrus notes and clean bitterness that are tamed with a roasty chocolate flavor from the coffee. The roast coffee essence comes through completely intertwined with the hops aromatics and flavor making it hard to distinguish which is more prominent.

Uncle Billy’s prides itself on subtlety and balance when using specialty ingredients and this beer is a prime example of that style.

Trevor says, “It’s stupid good.”
