Great Western Malting Launches New Malt Bags

VANCOUVER, Wash. & CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. — Great Western Malting, a leading producer of quality malt for the brewing industry, has revealed an update to their line of bagged malts. Previously packed in 50 LB / 22.68 KG paper bags, the format is being altered to 55 LB / 25 KG BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) bags.

Great Western Malting’s new bags will feature many superiorities to the previous format, such as a substantial increase in durability, improved water and pest resistance, absence of an inner plastic liner, and inclusion of an easy tear strip, eliminating the need for box cutters or knives. In addition, the new format will be host to the new branding rolled out by Great Western Malting over the past six months, further increasing GWM’s brand recognition in the brewing industry. While all Great Western Malting bags will be replaced by this new format, only four varieties are coming in the initial launch: Premium 2-Row, Pale High Color, Superior Pilsen, and White Wheat Malt.

Country Malt Group will be key in this partnership, serving as the distribution arm of Great Western Malting. Beginning on Monday, December 11th these new bags will commence shipment out of Country Malt Group’s Vancouver, WA distribution facility.  Over the course of the next few months, these new bags will be arriving in all Country Malt Group facilities beginning with Premium 2-Row before eventually moving on to the other three varieties. Release of the new bags will be staggered by geographic locations as inventory makes its way eastward.

With the release of these updated bags, Great Western Malting and Country Malt Group are confidant in improving the experience of brewers across the Craft Beer industry.
