Cicerone Certification Program Announces Spanish Website and Certified Beer Server Exam

Chicago — Today, the US-based Cicerone Certification Program announced the launch of its program in Spanish. This development makes professional beer knowledge and certification directly available to the world’s 400 million Spanish speakers in their native tongue. The new version allows Spanish speakers to join more than 80,000 beer professionals worldwide who have already earned the Certified Beer Server title.

“Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world,” said Ray Daniels, Founder and Director of the Cicerone Certification Program, “It has long been a goal of ours to offer the program in Spanish and we are thrilled to reach this important milestone.”

April marks the rollout of a Spanish version of cicerone.org featuring a full explanation of the program, a complete syllabus for the first level and access to the Certified Beer Server exam in Spanish. These resources have been developed during the past year with input both from professional translators and from bilingual Certified Cicerones from several areas of Latin America.

To access the Spanish site, go to www.cicerone.org and select “International: Spanish” when prompted to “Choose Region and Language.”

The Cicerone Certification Program is built around a series of four professional certification exams starting with Certified Beer Server and ending with the top level Master Cicerone. In the coming months, additional resources and tools will become available through the Spanish website to help beer professionals prepare for exams and access the second level Certified Cicerone exam in the new language.

With roots in the American craft beer movement and in-depth coverage of classic European beer culture, the Cicerone program has become the global standard for assessing beer professionals since its launch in 2008.

Spanish syllabi for the Certified Beer Server and Certified Cicerone® exams are now available on the adapted website. To download the PDFs, visit http://cicerone.org/int-es/.

ABOUT THE CICERONE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Founded in 2007 by brewer, author, and beer educator Ray Daniels, the Cicerone Certification Program seeks to ensure that consumers receive the best quality beer at every service occasion. To facilitate this, those who sell and serve beer are encouraged to acquire knowledge in five areas: 1) Keeping and Serving Beer, 2) Beer Styles, 3) Beer Flavor and Evaluation, 4) Beer Ingredients and Brewing Processes, and 5) Pairing Beer with Food.

The Cicerone Certification Program certifies beer professionals at four levels:

  • Certified Beer Server
  • Certified Cicerone®
  • Advanced Cicerone™
  • Master Cicerone®

To date, more than 80,000 individuals have been certified through the program. For more information on “What is a Cicerone?” visit: http://cicerone.org/about
