CONCORD, N.C. — Southern Strain Brewing Company announced that they will be opening their production brewery and public taproom in Downtown Concord, NC due to open in 2018.
We produce traditional styles or beer true without compromising our ability to experiment and embrace the ingenuity of hop forward styles, barrel aging and mixed fermentation. We source our ingredients as local as possible without compromising quality and are dedicated to increasing our sustainability. Our commitment is to bring the Downtown Concord, NC residents and friend’s local craft beer from a Southern independent brewery deserving of their respect and patronage.
Our home brewery is located in the Historic Center City of Concord, NC, just blocks from the middle of Downtown. Our 4,500 sf taproom and 10,000 sf production brewery is located in the White-Parks Mill at the corner of Reed Street and Brumley Avenue. We will have a sitting bar, private and community tables. We have an expansive outdoor patio directly off of the taproom and the 5 barrel production brewery is visible inside and out. All sales will be in house and draft only at opening in Fall/Winter of 2018.
Southern Strain Brewing Company is founded by three Downtown Concord, NC residents: Head Brewer Bart Roberts, Professional Brewer of National and International award winning beers since 2010 and past manager of Charlotte’s Alternative Beverage Homebrew Supply. Marketing & Sales Director and Assistant Brewer is Ford Craven, 4th generation Concord, NC native, Founder of the Cabarrus Homebrewers Society & Founder of the Cheers Charlotte Radio podcast. CFO and Assistant Brewer is Jake Allen, a Charlotte native and past accounting manager for Raleigh’s renowned Empire Properties.
