Redhook Brewery Launches New Bicoastal IPA

SEATTLE – Redhook Brewery today announced the release of Bicoastal IPA, a mash up between a hazy New England IPA and a west coast IPA.

The hazy New England-style IPA is taking both coasts by storm. Redhook Brewery has a unique perspective on the trend, having a presence in both Washington and New Hampshire. The Redhook brewing team wanted to highlight the best of both coasts, and after experimenting with the style created Bicoastal IPA, which takes India Pale Ale style cues from both coasts.

Bicoastal IPA captures the signature haze, creamy body, and ripe tropical fruit notes of a New England IPA, and blends signature dank hops and rich maltiness found in classic west coast IPAs. The hazy IPA is the first beer in Redhook’s Limited Release Series, which features the best and brightest new small-batch and experimental beers from Redhook Innovation Brewer Nick Crandall’s recipe books.

“Bicoastal is inspired by the IPAs coming out of New England, but with a little bit of a west coast twist,” said Crandall, who created this unique beer. “Given that we have a brewery in New Hampshire, we really had to nail this one. Bicoastal has the signature hazy appearance and a really smooth mouthfeel with a huge tropical fruit aroma. Then we gave it a dank dry hopping synonymous with a west coast IPA.”

Bicoastal IPA will be available exclusively in Seattle as part of the Redhook Limited Release Series, which is inspired by the counter culture of the city: music, water, mountains, art, coffee, and design. Each beer features original artwork from local Seattle artists. Seattle-based designer, art director, and screen printer Derek Vander Griend created the artwork for Bicoastal, featuring the legendary sea creature, the kraken.

About Redhook Brewery

Redhook was born out of the entrepreneurial spirit of early 1980s in the heart of Seattle. While the term didn’t exist at the time, Redhook became one of America’s first craft breweries with its focus on creating a better beer. From a modest start in a former transmission shop in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, to a Fremont trolley barn that housed The Trolleyman brewpub, to its current breweries in Woodinville, Wash., and Portsmouth, N.H., Redhook has become one of America’s most recognized craft breweries. Redhook will open a 10-barrel brewpub in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle in 2017.

Redhook’s beer lineup includes ESB, Long Hammer IPA, Extra Special Lager (ESL), American Pale Ale, and a variety of seasonal beers, including Blackhook, Summerhook, and Winterhook. Redhook beers are available on draught and in bottles and cans around the country.
