Portland Brewing Releases Rose Hip Gold

PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 29, 2014) — With Valentine’s Day on the way and spring on the horizon, Portland Brewing has brewed up something special — Rose Hip Gold. Much like the beauty of the rose itself, with its prickly thorns, this delicate Belgian-style Ale has notes of fruit and spice along with a little citrusy bite from a generous addition of rose hips in the kettle.

“Rose Hip Gold features a lovely range of fruit, bubblegum, citrus and spice flavors perfect for when the sun peeks through the clouds,” says head brewer Ryan Pappe. “As a nod to our hometown of Portland, Oregon, the Rose City, we incorporate 60 pounds of dried rose hips into each brew, adding a hint of color and a citrusy zing to the finished beer.”

Rose Hip Gold’s body comes from the careful combination of Pilsner, 2-row Pale, Honey, Wheat and Victory malts, along with the additions of Summit and Crystal hops. The beer is then sealed with a kiss of rose hips. The result is a delicately complex beer with an ABV of 6% and 25 IBUs, ideal for sharing with a certain someone.

Rose Hip Gold is available in stores, bottle shops and the Taproom in 22 oz. bottles, 12 oz. 6-packs and on draft. A bouquet of roses doesn’t last forever and neither will this Portland Brewing original, so find it now — from February 1 to April 1 — and indulge.
