ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Port City Brewing Company is proud to announce a new beer to its limited release lineup: Ideaal Tripel. From the Flemish term meaning“quintessential or exemplary,” Ideaal (pronounced id-ay-all) is an 8.5% ABV, honey gold Belgian-style ale. The beer will be available on draft and in bottles starting with the Tasting Room Release Party on Friday, May 18th.
“Optimal Wit has been a fan favorite since we opened over seven years ago, but we’ve only brewed a few other Belgian-style ales to date,” says founder Bill Butcher.“Everyone here at Port City has a deep respect for Belgian brewing, so we’re excited to share our version of one of the world’s classic beer styles.”
Drawing inspiration from Belgium’s monastic brewing tradition, Ideaal Tripel is a golden-hued abbey ale with a dense cap of mousse-like foam. Subtly sweet pilsner malt and herbaceous noble hops leave room for expressive Belgian yeas tcharacter to shine. In the glass, fruity esters and peppery phenols mingle with a floral-herbal hop aroma, setting the stage for a deceptively dry body. Ideaal Tripel is perfectly suited to accompany a wide range of food, such as Thanksgiving dinner, fruit-based desserts, and soft-ripened cheeses.
