Carlsbad, CA – Pizza Port Brewing Co. is excited to announce that Shark Bite Red Ale will be their next limited release can following Graveyard’s Pale Ale. Shark Bite was the first beer brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach by Co-Owner Vince Marsaglia in 1992. Not only was Shark Bite the first beer to be packaged and sold from Pizza Port Brewing Co., but it is also used in their signature whole wheat beer crust and portzels.
It only made sense to choose this historic beer to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pizza Port brand this coming March. Co-Owner Gina Marsaglia states “Shark Bite remains one of my all-time favorite beers we brew at Pizza Port since it’s both hoppy and malty at the same time. The name comes from my biggest fear when moving to California from Colorado in spite of my extreme love for the ocean! I’m not afraid of this Shark Bite!”
Shark Bite Red is an American Amber that comes in at 6.0 % abv. “This beer gets its flavor from an abundance of dark crystal malts, and Centennial and Cascade hops,” describes Brewing Operations Director Sean Farrell. “The dark crystal malt gives a rich caramelly mouthfeel with hints of biscuit, dried fruit, and roasted notes. The Centennial and Cascade balance the beer with citrus, pine, and spice, creating a complex yet drinkable beer.”
The beer will be released in mid-January wherever Pizza Port Beer is sold in not only their home town of San Diego, but in all of California, Las Vegas and Reno as well.
