Nine Pin Cider Works Collaborates with Brewery Ommegang on Bourbon Barrel Aged Lion’s Share

ALBANY, N.Y. — Nine Pin Cider Works, New York’s first farm cidery located in Albany, and Brewery Ommegang, a Belgian-style focused brewery located in Cooperstown, have announced the release of Bourbon Barrel Aged Lion’s Share, the second collaboration between the Albany-based cidery and the Cooperstown-based brewery.

This cider is made from a farmhouse blend of apples from Kinderhook, N.Y.-based Samascott Orchards fermented with Ommegang’s proprietary house Belgian yeast. It is then aged in bourbon barrels resulting in an off dry Belgian-style cider with smooth vanilla notes.

“We’re excited about this sequel collaboration between Nine Pin and Brewery Ommegang. The Bourbon Barrel Aged Lion’s Share captures the spirit of the New York craft beverage revolution and we’re proud to continue to partner with Brewery Ommegang on this very unique cider,” said Alejandro del Peral, co-founder and cider maker, Nine Pin Cider Works.

“We were so pleased with the result of our first collaboration with Nine Pin that we were happy to have the opportunity to work with them again one something new,” said Phil Leinhart, Brewery Ommegang’s brewmaster. “The Lion’s Share was a delicious Belgian-style cider and we think the barrel-aged version is going to be just as enjoyable.”

The Bourbon Barrel Aged Lion’s Share is 6.5% ABV and is sold in 375 ml bottles.

Retail availability is exclusively through Nine Pin and Brewer Ommegang. For more information, visit ninepincider.com and breweryommeang.com.
