Ft. Collins, Colo. – After nine years of partnership and friendship, New Belgium Brewing and Do LaB, creators of Calif.’s Lightning in a Bottle Music & Lifestyle Festival, have created a beer to inspire all to gather, dance and celebrate while soaking in the sun at the 2015 festival. May 21 – 25 will be the first opportunity to try out Lightning in a Bottle (LIB) Berliner Weiss, but the magic doesn’t stop there. Do LaB and New Belgium are making plans for a summer event series, Under the Summer Sun, to further celebrate the LIB collaboration. The events will include live music, ticket giveaways and epic fun.
LIB Berliner Weiss is as unique and full of expression as the festival itself. Wheat and oats build a delicate, silky base while Mosaic dry-hopping presents tropical and citrus tones to the nose. Puckering notes of lemon are amplified by a hearty Lactobacillius fermentation for lovely tartness. A low ABV of 3.5 percent makes this Berliner the perfect festival beer.
“New Belgium has been partnering with Do LaB and Lightning in a Bottle for the last nine years, and we really wanted to do something extra special for the 2015 event,” said Aimee Gilchrist, New Belgium’s Calif. Field Brander. “This beer reflects the originality of the awesome SoCal festival we love. California drinkers are really into IPAs, so this sour, dry-hopped Berliner might catch them off guard. But it’s a great festival beer that we can’t wait for people to enjoy.”
