AMANA, IA – Millstream Brewery, Iowa’s Oldest Craft Brewery, is now taking advantage of the new law Iowa passed in 2010. Before 2010 Iowa breweries could only brew up to about 6.25% ABV, now it is 15% ABV!
To celebrate this monumental event in Iowa’s history, Millstream has released their high gravity “Brewmaters Extreme Series”.
Every two months they brew a different high-alcohol beer and release it to the public. A Double IPA (7.8%) and a Sun “Ryes” Helles Doppelbock (7.9%) were the first beers released.
June 7th will see the Big Honey Hefe (9.2%) on the shelves. It is brewed with 120 pounds of honey, 2 row brewers malt, Wheat, magnum & willamette hops. Available in 12 oz bottles and on draft.
