Jack’s Abby Expands Partnership with Sheehan to Include New York, New Jersey

Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers’ transition into the Sheehan Family Companies network will now include New York and New Jersey, the Framingham, Massachusetts-based craft brewery announced today.

Over the last two months, Jack’s Abby has moved its distribution business in Massachusetts and Rhode Island to Sheehan Family subsidiaries after terminating Atlantic Beverage Distributors in both states.

Starting this week in New York and New New Jersey, Sheehan subsidiaries Union Beer Distributors, Tri-Valley Beverage, T.J. Sheehan Distributing, Craft Beer Guild of New York and Hunterdon Brewing Company will distribute Jack’s Abby and Springdale Beer Co.

“After joining with Sheehan in our home state of Massachusetts, we’ve already seen the power that this distribution network has and we can’t wait to continue growing together over the coming years,” Jack’s Abby co-owner Sam Hendler said in the release.

“Between the great products Jack’s Abby brews, and their exceptionally talented team, we look forward to developing Jack’s Abby into as strong a regional brewer as they are a strong local brewer here in Massachusetts,” Mike Brazel, VP of sales and marketing for the Sheehan Family Companies, added.

New York and New Jersey account for 15% of Jack’s Abby’s business, according to a company spokesperson.

Remarkable Liquids had offered Jack’s Abby products in both states for the last eight years. Unlike the transition away from Atlantic, this move is amicable.

“We are incredibly grateful to the entire team at Remarkable Liquids for the years of hard work they have put into building the Jack’s Abby brands in New York and New Jersey,” Hendler said. “Remarkable was our second wholesaler and over the past eight years of working together, we have learned a great deal from each other.”

“The partnership between Jack’s Abby and Remarkable Liquids was forged before Jack’s had packaged product and when Remarkable delivered everything on a single refrigerated box truck and van,” Remarkable Liquids founder and general manager Spencer Noakes. “Our companies have grown up together. Over the last eight years we have both watched, and played a role in each other’s significant growth, into much larger, and more formidable companies. It is surely bittersweet that our partnership must end, but the kinship and mutual admiration will surely endure.”

Sheehan Family Companies is one of the largest wholesalers of craft beer in the U.S., with operations in 13 states and Washington, D.C.
