J. Wakefield Brewing to Release Chains New England-Style IPA

MIAMI — On Friday, December 15th, J. Wakefield Brewing, Wynwood’s only independent craft brewery, will be releasing Chains, formerly known as Turnover, a northeast-style India pale ale, celebrating the recent success of a beloved local college football team and the now famous gold Cuban link chain, worn on the sideline after a player forces a turnover.

Streetwear brand Dyme Lyfe and Out The Huddle (OTH), a multimedia sports content platform, partnered with JWB on the beer and will be on hand for a special happy hour release party on Friday, December 15th at the JWB taproom from 5PM to 9PM.

OTH will be holding a toy drive at the launch party, for Gang Alternative in Little Haiti. Guests are asked to donate new, unwrapped toys for children ages 4-11.

The Avenue British Diner will be serving “refined British classics” from 6PM to12AM.

Chains will be available at the JWB taproom on draft and in four packs of 16oz cans for $16. The label art depicts Cuban-style gold link chains.

“I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember,” said Johnathan Wakefield, JWB founder and brewmaster, “My grandfather raised me that way. I remember watching Vinny Testaverde play quarterback when I was a kid. I grew up watching the Jimmy Johnson teams and later the Butch Davis teams. I’ve been a fan through the national championships, but also the tough years. I recently met D.J. Williams and we hit it off. I sent him a few of our beers and told him that we’d like to create a beer to celebrate the team’s surprising season. He agreed to collaborate and brought Brett Romberg aboard.

Chains, formerly known as Turnover, is not affiliated with any educational institution and is not being marketed to college students.
