LITTLETON, Colo. — Known in the U.S. for its Weisse and Original Oktoberfest, Munich-based Hacker-Pschorr Brewery is expanding its U.S. offerings with a limited-release specialty beer series available in collectible swing top bottles and draught. This new limited edition line consists of four small batch beers, brewed and packaged especially for variety-thirsty U.S. beer lovers.
The second beer in the series, Sternweisse, is available to distributors across the U.S. now, and beer fans can expect it to start appearing on shelves in May.
Translated “Wheat Star,” Sternweisse is an unfiltered, amber-hued wheat ale that combines the best of Hacker-Pschorr’s Weisse and Weisse Dark. Suspended yeast and wheat lend Sternweisse an exceptionally pleasing, full-bodied mouth feel. Specialty malts and Hacker-Pschorr’s signature Weisse yeast lend fruity hints to the nose and create a complex flavor profile containing caramel, almonds, marzipan, and coriander.
Though Sternweisse is around the corner, the first release in the limited edition series, Hubertus Bock, is still available in many bars, restaurants, and liquor stores. Furthermore, beer lovers can participate in the Hubertus Bock photo contest, which runs through May 19.
