Draught Works Brewery to Release Last Rites Mexican Chocolate Porter in Cans

MISSOULA  Six years ago, shortly after opening Draught Works Brewery in Missoula’s vibrant Westside neighborhood, owners Jeff Grant and Paul Marshall began brewing Last Rites, a unique and memorable porter reminiscent of Champurrado, a thick, spiced, hot chocolate prevalent in Mexico since pre-Columbus times.

Earlier this year, Draught Works Brewery released four flagship brews in cans for the first time ever, after expanding into a neighboring 5,000 sq. ft. space.  Since its debut in 2012, Last Rites has become an extremely popular seasonal staple in Missoula, and across Central and Western Montana, making this sessionable porter an ideal choice for Draught Works, as their first-ever canned seasonal.

Last Rites Mexican Chocolate Porter, available in cans and on draught from September to January, incorporates the warming flavors of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and toasty dark malts that are the perfect complement for cool weather festivities, as temperatures begin to drop and Montana’s summer comes to a close.

ABOUT LAST RITES MEXICAN CHOCOLATE PORTER

Dark as a moonless night, Last Rites Mexican Chocolate Porter was brewed in the spirit of Champurrado, a traditional spiced hot chocolate drink popular in Mexico.  Dark malts are enhanced and complemented by generous additions of South American raw organic cocoa nibs, and a late addition of cinnamon sticks to the boil gives this beer an elusive spice to the flavor and aroma. At 5.8% this sessionable porter is the perfect complement to any cool-weather festivity, and will surely release your soul for a proper celebration.

ABOUT DRAUGHT WORKS BREWERY

Draught Works (“Draft Works”) began brewing in Missoula in October 2011. The brewery was built by founders, Jeff Grant and Paul Marshall, by redeveloping a 1931 former recycling center. Everything from the bar, barstools, doors, tables, and flooring once served a different life before being reclaimed into Draught Works’ taproom and brewery.

This industrial spirit has driven Draught Works to build better beers and produce a consistent line of craft ales and lagers both on draught and now in cans. And just as draught beer is the epitome of fresh beer, the brewers at Draught Works work diligently to guarantee only the finest product leaves their brewery, one that reflects their passion for quality and the spirit of hard work.
