Dogfish Head today announced that it would expand distribution into five new states next year, noting that additional market expansions could also be on tap in 2017.

The Delaware-based craft brewery said it would add New Mexico, Minnesota, Missouri, Alabama and West Virginia to its distribution footprint next year.

It plans to first enter New Mexico in January, signing with Admiral Beverage Corporation.

“We’re finally in a position to bring our off-centered and well-differentiated family of beers to new consumers in new states for the first time in many years,” Dogfish Head CEO and founder Sam Calagione said via a release.

Throughout 2016, Dogfish “tripled” the size of its sales team, enabling the company to consider new market entries.

“In 2016, we have worked hard to lay the groundwork for a successful forward-looking expansion plan,” Calagione said.

The company is also still considering a move into Kansas, according to its career page.

Odell Brewing is finally cross the Mississippi.

The Colorado-based craft brewery today announced plans to expand distribution into Illinois, its 14th state, signing an agreement with Breakthru Beverage for coverage throughout the state.

“Illinois has long been one of the nation’s leading markets,” co-founder Doug Odell said via a release. “These folks know beer, and as a brewery that has largely distributed in the Rocky Mountain region, we’re excited to step into our first state east of the Mississippi River.”

Distribution of the brewery’s draft, canned and bottled products will begin in February, the company said.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Odell Brewing for their Illinois expansion,” Kevin Roberts, Breakthru’s executive vice president of sales and marketing said in the release. “We’ve been working together for many years in Colorado and we’re looking forward to building on that already stellar relationship.”

Cascade Relinquishes Self-Distribution in Oregon

Last week, Cascade Brewing announced it had signed with Day One Distribution for coverage throughout its home state of Oregon. It had previously self-distributed its line of sour beers to 35 in-state accounts.

“The decision to go with a distributor partner in Oregon for the Cascade sour beer portfolio was a decision we had discussed for many months,” Cascade vice president Tim Larrance, said via a release. “We decided it was time to focus more on production than distribution. We found a great partner in Day One and its founder, Robby Roda.”
