Creature Comforts Announces Return of Koko Buni Milk Porter

Athen, GA – Creature Comforts Brewing Company’s seasonal Koko Buni is set to return this November. Koko Buni will be available on draft and in 12-ounce cans.

Koko Buni is the brewery’s milk porter brewed with toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, coffee and vanilla. The beer comes in at 6.8-percent ABV. The flavors are rich and velvety – perfect for cooler days and evenings. As with most Creature Comforts brews, a key characteristic of Koko Buni is balance in flavor. None of the flavors are overpowering or fatiguing on the palate.

“We decided not to be traditional with the beer and add some ingredients that play well with the already roasty and chocolatey flavors of darker beers,” said Co-Founder and Head Brewer David Stein. “The result is a decadent porter, yet balanced and not over the top. Each flavor has room to individually interact with your palate, which is always a challenge as a brewer when using so many ingredients.”

Creature Comforts sourced both the coffee and cocoa nibs locally. The coffee is an Ethiopian blend from 1000 Faces Coffee and the cocoa nibs are Ecuadorian from local bean-to- bar chocolatier, Condor Chocolates. In addition, Condor Chocolates created a Koko Buni chocolate bar incorporating 1000 Faces coffee to accompany the beer. 1000 Faces Coffee will also offer the coffee used in the brew as a limited edition Koko Buni coffee blend. Partial proceeds from the chocolate and coffee will go towards local nonprofits through the brewery’s Get Comfortable fund.

Continuing in its effort to frequently work with local partners, Creature Comforts worked with Athens artist David Hale on the can design. The design won CNBC’s Battle of the Beer Labels competition in April 2016. Hale also designed the wrapper for the limited edition Koko Buni chocolate bar.

The coconut and Ethiopian coffee used in making the beer inspired its name. “Koko” translates to coconut in Papmiento, a language commonly used in the Caribbean. “Buni” is derived from the word for coffee in Amharic, the primary language found in Ethiopia.

Koko Buni will be available on draft and in cans in the Athens and Atlanta markets in late November. For more information on Creature Comforts visit www.creaturecomfortsbeer.com.
