Coronado’s Barrel-Aged Stupid Stout Returns

coronado stupid stout

San Diego, CA –Coronado Brewing Company is celebrating the end of 2016 with the much-anticipated release of Barrel-Aged Stupid Stout. Part of the company’s Coronado Collection, this small-batch release spent five months aging in fresh bourbon barrels from West Virginia craft distiller, Smooth Ambler. The result is an intensely rich imperial stout with layers of espresso, caramel, dark chocolate, and a smooth, warming finish.

“We look forward to this release each year,” says Ryan Brooks, Brewmaster, Coronado Brewing Company. “Stupid Stout is a big, bold beer, and it gets even more complex with barrel-aging. I love how the beer picks up subtle vanilla and coconut notes from the oak.”

Barrel-Aged Stupid Stout is available in 22oz bottles and on draft, throughout Coronado’s distribution network. Bottles will also be available at the company’s Tasting Room at the main brewery, beginning this Friday, December 23.

About Coronado Brewing Company
In 1996, when craft beer was still a foreign term and San Diego County was home to only a handful of breweries, the Chapman brothers Ron and Rick opened a brewpub in their hometown of Coronado. Today CBC stays true to their San Diego roots, brewing abundantly hoppy West Coast-style ales, which are available today in 19 US states and twelve countries. In addition to the long-established pub in Coronado, the company opened a tasting room inside their newly built San Diego production facility in early 2013, and a tasting room and restaurant in Imperial Beach, California in 2014. Coronado Brewing Company was honored in 2014 with one of the brewing industry’s most prestigious awards-World Beer Cup Champion Brewery and Brewmaster for a Mid-size Brewing Company.
