Coronado Brewing Captures Essence of San Diego Beer Culture With New Video

To coincide with the opening of the company’s new tasting room, San Diego-based Coronado Brewing Company commissioned a three-minute promotional video to capture the ‘typical day’ of a San Diegan.

The video – which mashes together a brew day at Coronado Brewing and a day of fun for San Diego beachgoers – was shot and produced by Dane Wirtzfeld, a local graphic designer who has collaborated with the brewery on past visual projects. It chronicles the story of four friends as they drive to the shores of Coronado Island for some surfing and sun-worshiping. The group eventually finishes the day at a backyard barbeque, complete with Coronado beers.

Kyle Chapman, a spokesman for the brewery, said the idea was to visually paint a picture that captured the essence of both Coronado and the San Diego craft beer scene.

“We’re planning to feature the video on our homepage so that visitors can have a feel for what we are all about,” he said.

The video release comes after a ‘soft opening’ of the brewery’s new tasting room, located inside the company’s new $2 million production facility which it began brewing out of last June.

While Coronado will hold a more formal grand opening in early February, Chapman said that customers are already able to visit the tasting room seven days a week for pints, flights and growlers. The space also features a retail shop where consumers can purchase 6-packs and 22 oz. bombers as well as brewery swag.
