ELMSFORD, N.Y. – Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is thrilled to announce that Effortless Grapefruit Session IPA will now be widely available in Sweden.
Captain Lawrence won the coveted tender for system-wide availability with Systembolaget, for their highly drinkable Session India Pale Ale brewed with natural grapefruit flavor.
Systembolaget is the Swedish government-owned chain whose retail stores are the only ones in the country allowed to sell alcoholic beverages containing more than 3.5% alcohol, for take-home consumption. Within the Systembolaget there are several levels of availability. Some products are in the ‘ordering range’ or beställningssortimentet – orderable to stores, but not stocked. Then there are seven levels of availability in the chain of over 450 stores nationwide – T9, T7, T5, T3, T2, T1 and BASE. The lower the number, the greater the availability, with a “BASE” availability meaning that the product is available in all or virtually all Systembolaget stores.
“This was a highly sought-after BASE listing, with numerous, large and award-winning brands competing in the blind-tasting,” shared Chris Westfahl, Craft Beer Brand Manager for Galatea AB. Westfahl went on to relate; “Captain Lawrence should be very pleased with this win, and we are pleased to bring their Effortless Grapefruit to our shelves. We look forward to other ales from Captain Lawrence coming soon, including some of their unfiltered IPAs, as well as some of the Sour beers for which they are perhaps best known.”
Captain Lawrence founder and brewmaster Scott Vaccaro said of the tender win; “We couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity. Effortless Grapefruit will officially launch on March 1st. However, anyone in or around Stockholm this week will have a chance to get a sneak preview. Captain Lawrence will be bringing Effortless Grapefruit along with prizes and apparel to two events in Stockholm; first on Friday, January 25th at the popular craft beer pub Tritonia, and then on Saturday January 26th at the Nöjesguiden beer festival at Kägelbanan in Mosebacke, Stockholm.
