Cape May, NJ — The latest in Cape May Brewing Company’s stretch of 21 brews in 21 weeks, your new favorite summer beer drops today, May 12. Summer Catch will be in CMBC’s Tasting Room at 1288 Hornet Road in Cape May and to better bars and restaurants in the area.

This crushable Belgian-style wheat ale is sure to be your go-to drink this summer, with citrus on the nose and an easy-drinking yet firm body. Aimed at the adventurous beer drinker, Summer Catch is approachable enough for the as-yet-uninitiated craft beer lover.

“Summer Catch is insanely good!” says Director of Brewing Operations Jimmy Valm. “I think I’m more proud of this beer than anything else I’ve ever brewed.”

“It will definitely appease all parties,” agrees Head Brewer Brian Hink. “It’s refreshing and light-bodied, with hardly a trace of hop bitterness, but a boatload of aroma – think ripened oranges and freshly squeezed grapefruit.”

What makes Summer Catch so appealing isn’t the ingredients we used, but how we used them. “This beer is all about balance between the fruity hop aromas, the smooth, bready notes of the wheat, and the fruity ester and spicy phenolic character of our favorite Belgian yeast, all used in an almost Golden Ratio fashion to keep the overall effect in equilibrium.”

The effect is an unbelievably drinkable brew where the bitterness is apparent but not tongue-stripping, where the yeast character is distinct but not dominant, where the hop aromas are enticing but not off-putting. “This beer is pure synergy, the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts,” Valm enthuses.

Your new summer beer is here.

Visitors to the brewery in Cape May can taste Summer Catch on tap today from 12-8PM, as well as some twenty other offerings. In addition, visitors will experience CMBC’s new interactive self-guided tour, designed in a distinctively Southern Shore style by artist David Macomber.

The brewery and tasting room are open noon to 8pm daily, serving tours, tastings, and growler fills. For more information, visit capemaybrewery.com or call (609) 849-9933.

About Cape May Brewing Company:

Once upon a time, twenty-something Ryan Krill earned a six-figure salary working in finance and real estate development in Manhattan, while his college roommate, Chris Henke, designed satellites. During a summer weekend at the Jersey shore, they brewed a batch of beer with Ryan’s dad that wasn’t half bad. “Should we open a brewery?” Ryan asked, only half-serious. But, by the following year, the three guys had secured a space at Cape May Airport where they concocted a makeshift brew system and honed their beer-making skills. In 2011, they started with one client. Today, there are over 380+ accounts in Jersey and Pennsylvania proudly serving the guys’ award-winning recipes. And CMBC’s fearless leaders have never looked back.
