Job Overview
The Retail General Manager is responsible for leading department-level taproom operations and ensuring the efficient, profitable, and world-class execution of all retail channels at Lord Hobo Brewing Company. This includes but is not limited to on-site alcohol service, food service, merchandise sales, to-go alcohol and food sales, online sales, and creating/promoting taproom events.
As a leader, the GM embodies the principles and promises of Lord Hobo, enabling their team to consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences while driving sustained growth in sales and profitability. Acting as a Brand Ambassador both inside and outside the taproom, the GM represents the company by presenting a clean and welcoming taproom, and acquiring new guests through innovative and eye-catching ways to share the Lord Hobo product with the broader community.
Representative Roles and Responsibilities
The GM must possess the skill and ability to influence behaviors. They must be a role model for all correct behaviors; leadership, hospitality, shift execution, administrative, and time management. They must constantly gather information from all sources available and follow up as necessary to ensure all staff members are learning and growing effectively in their respective areas of opportunity. Primary job duties will include managing all tasting room staff and operations, executing business and sales strategies with performance goals, working with vendors, ordering and reporting inventory, managing merchandise inventories, maintaining detailed records for analysis, evaluating sales and staff performance, and managing and training staff.
Manage day-to-day operations:
Ensure execution of world-class service, ambience, and customer experience/satisfaction
Oversee floor operation & assist staff during busiest hours as needed
Manage Full Staff Scheduling
Inventory & Ordering of Bevs: Beer, Guest, Coffee, NA Bevs
Daily cash handling, reporting, and drops with finance
Repairs & Maintenance - maintenance & general cleanliness of taproom facilities. Suggestions/Requests to support scaling
Menu Printing/Digital Updates
Toast Maintenance, & manage pricing metrics
Creation and delegation of sidework, closing procedures, and operational efficiencies
Communication to the staff: specials, beer, reminders, etc.
Serve as a Private Event liaison as needed
Manage customer escalations & customer service outreach
Planning, communication, and organization for events and other revenue-driving initiatives
Attend weekly cross-departmental meetings, communicate needs
Online Platform Management & Customer Service Response: Untappd, Google, Website
Bi-weekly Timeclock & Tip Reporting
Retail Merchandise and Store
Manage organization & display of products
Take & report monthly inventories
Maintain new products on the e-commerce site and manage fulfillment of orders
Systems
Refine taproom operational systems & policies as needed w/ Director
Staff Management
Directly manage and assist FOH Staff & Taproom Management: policies, procedures, expectations, staff issues, and accountability
Manage Training: Onboarding & Cont. Ed
Development: coach and mentor staff to improve skills, performance, and hospitality
Lead and develop 2nd line managers, leads, and kitchen management
Admin
Onboarding paperwork and setup into systems
Assist HR as needed with Employee Coaching, Discipline, and Reviews
Marketing
Manage Woburn location Instagram
Make marketing posters & digital board signage as needed
Revenue Generation
Event initiative planning & execution w/ Event Team
Weekly small batch beer planning
Loyalty programs, sales incentive programs, etc.
Budgets
Manage FOH Labor Costs
Creative ways to spend taproom budget on general improvements to space/product

The salary range for this position is: $70,000-$80,000
