Sacramento, Calif. – The California Craft Brewers Association will be hosting the California Craft Beer Summit and Brewers Showcase to connect California’s thriving craft brewing industry to beer enthusiasts and industry members from across the country. This first-of-its-kind event will profile California craft beer in a way that has never been done.

The summit will bring together retailers, wholesalers, brewery owners, beer enthusiasts and home-brewers for an educational, hands-on experience where they will be able to see, touch, smell and taste beer. The summit will culminate in a craft beer festival and brewers showcase where more than 150 California breweries from every corner of the state will pour beer. Many of these will be special releases and rare brands. The two day summit and brewers showcase will be held in Sacramento on September 11 and 12.

“Behind every beer is a great story,” said Tom McCormick, executive director of the California Craft Brewers Association. “We want craft beer enthusiasts and all of those in the industry to come together for two days of learning, networking and tasting. We all have something to learn from each other.”

The Summit Expo will take place inside the Sacramento Convention Center. The four corners of the hall will each feature one of the four beer ingredients where attendees rub hops, nibble on barley and watch yeast in action. There will be old and odd pieces of brewing equipment scattered about the floor (remember Golden Gates?!). Chefs from around the state will be conducting food demos with various brewers discussing food pairings and cooking with beer. Educational seminars will be held in breakout rooms covering a wide range of topics catered to retailers, wholesalers, consumers and brewers.

The state’s industry icons and pioneers will be speaking including Ken Grossman, Fritz Maytag, Dr. Charles Bamforth, Vinnie & Natalie Cilurzo, Tony Magee, Greg Koch, Mitch Steele, Don Barkley, Mark Carpenter, Patrick Rue, Mat Brynildson, Chef Adam Dulye, Dr. Bart Watson and many others.

“This summit is a celebration of the craft beer culture in California and across the nation,” says David Walker, Board President of the CCBA and founder of Firestone Walker Brewing Co. “It’s time we celebrate the hundreds of craft beer drinkers and California breweries who have crafted the world’s finest beers.”
