Braxton Brewing to Release Braxton Labs’ Champagne Inspired Beer

NEWPORT, Ky. — Dedicated to innovation, Braxton Labs is excited to release a champagne inspired beer just in time for 2018. On Saturday, December 23rd, the brewery will release a Galaxy Dry Hopped Saison that was bottle conditioned with Champagne Yeast. The beer will be available in corked 750ml bottles beginning at 11am.

“We wanted to celebrate the new year and try a new technique combined with a delicious beer,” said Evan Rouse, Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer of Braxton Brewing Company. “Braxton Labs allows us to combine experimentation and innovation in projects like this and for our fans to benefit from it all!”

This is the first bottle conditioned product Braxton Brewing Company or Braxton Labs has released. Bottle conditioning is a traditional method of packaging, where a precise amount of additional fermentable sugar and yeast are added to the flat beer just prior to bottling. The beer is then allowed to referment in the bottle, creating CO2 that carbonates the beer. This method has the additional benefit of creating a more shelf stable product, as the yeast consume any oxygen that might have made its way into the bottle.

This natural carbonation with champagne yeast brings a spritzy effervescence to your palate, reminiscent of your new year’s toast. Fittingly, the brewery used corked 750ml bottles. The base 5.3% ABV, 25 IBU beer is a classic saison recipe of simply Pilsner malt and Saaz hop. An earthy and phenolic farmhouse ale, it’s transformed by a healthy dry hop of Galaxy hops.

Just in time to pop for the new year, the bottles will be $9.99 for one bottle or $34.99 for four. In a very limited quantity, they’ll be released this Saturday at 11am in Braxton Labs’ taproom.

“Braxton Labs is all about innovation and experimentation. Up to this point, that has taken form in interesting styles and unique ingredients, but this project allowed us to branch out by taking a simple beer and implementing a unique process,” said Zac Boehnke, Lead Innovation Brewer at Braxton Labs. “We are incredibly excited for this release and are looking forward to furthering our experimentation in future projects.”
