RALEIGH, N.C., – Mims Distributing Company, a wholesale beverage distributor in North Carolina, has announced that Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits’ The Commodore American Stout is now available in six-pack form. Previously only available in draft, The Commodore six-pack features 12-ounce bottles full of the flavors of roast coffee and chocolate, with light citrus hop aromas and a bitter crisp finish. Craft beer lovers can also purchase the craft brew in 24-count cases and kegs.
“Craft beer lovers will finally be able to purchase The Commodore in six-pack bottles so they can enjoy its unique combination of coffee and chocolate flavors,” said Chip Mims, CEO of Mims Distributing Company. “Ballast Point‘s exceptional craft beers retain the personal touches of the brewery’s founders and we are excited to make The Commodore more readily available in North Carolina.”
Ballast Point is a San Diego, California-based brewery that joined Mims Distributing’s expanding portfolio in October 2014. It has received California’s Distillery of the Year Award for the past two years and won 19 awards at various California state fairs this summer. Started as a home brewery for the simple purpose of making better beer, Ballast Point retains a homegrown feel through beer names with a nautical theme – a passion of founders Jack White and Yuseff Cherney.
“In our search for a new American Stout we came up with The Commodore through our R&D Pilot Brewery. It quickly became a favorite at the brewery with its roasty coffee and chocolate flavors, “ said Greg Leone of Ballast Point. “This carefully-crafted brew is the perfect addition to Command any tailgate or backyard BBQ, and we are proud to partner with Mims Distributing to bring this to our consumers.”

About Ballast Point
What started in 1996 as a small group of home brewers who simply wanted to make great beer evolved into the team of adventurers known today as Ballast Point. From bringing a hoppy twist to a porter, or adding four types of malt to its amber ale, to creating a breakthrough gold-medal winning IPA, the San Diego-based company is known for adding its own touch and asking if there’s a better way. Not satisfied with just brewing great beer, they got into the distilling business to see if they could add their own spin to another centuries-old craft. Today an internationally recognized leader in the craft brewing and spirits industry, the company makes over 50 styles of beer and bottles 14 spirits.
