The Siebel Institute of Technology, one of the leading brewing schools in the country, will leave Chicago and move to Montreal on January 1, it announced Thursday.

San Francisco-based Fort Point Beer Company has ended its 6-year-old self-distribution operation and sold the rights to distribute its brands to Matagrano Inc. in the Bay Area. Offerings from Bell’s Brewery will be sold by Classic Beverage in Southern California, following the acquisition of Bell’s brand rights by the City of Industry-headquartered wholesaler, which purchased Craft Beer Guild from Sheehan Family Companies.

The California Department of Public Health has rescinded a requirement that alcoholic beverages must be served with a meal, according to an industry advisory issued by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Dovetail Brewery has established a sales partnership with Artisanal Imports, a highly-respected importer of the most highly acclaimed, internationally award-winning beverages from around the world. Artisanal Imports is based in Austin, Texas. Currently, Dovetail beer is sold in the brewery’s tap room and sold wholesale by the keg to bars and restaurants near the brewery, located in what has become known as Chicago’s Ravenswood Brewery Corridor.

Chicago’s acclaimed local brewery, Dovetail Brewery (1800 W. Belle Plaine at Ravenswood in the North Center neighborhood), continues its mission of crafting outstanding seasonal beers with its release of the new Dunkelweizen. This dark wheat beer is Dovetail’s interpretation of the classic southern German dark beer that is particularly enjoyable during cooler weather months.
